Open Call: 2012 Spring/Summer Residency

Eyebeam is pleased to announce its Open Call for 2012 Spring/Summer Residencies. Up to six Residents will join continuing Fellows and Residents in the first quarter of 2012 at Eyebeam's shared design, research, and fabrication labs. Eyebeam Residents are selected from a semi-annual open call and receive a 5-month residency with stipend in support of project realization.

Exhibition: Open(Art) – Creative platforms for the open web

July 12 - August 11, 2013 Opening Reception: Friday, July 12, 6-8pm Workshops: Saturday, July 13, 12-3pm Eyebeam is pleased to announce the Open(Art) exhibition and workshop series, which marks the culmination of our Open(Art) Fellows' projects. Open(Art) is a joint initiative launched by Eyebeam and Mozilla to support creativity at the intersection of art and the open web. It offers a unique opportunity for artists and technologists to collaborate on work that catalyzes participation on a global scale, and engages audiences through innovation, transparency, and utility.Join the Open(Art) Fellows, Forrest Oliphant, Toby Schachman and Nortd Labs, for a reception on July 12 and workshops on July 13. Both events are free and open to the public.

Exchange Cafe

Exchange Cafe runs on an alternative currency that is validated by the requests of the people who use it. Open until June 30th at MoMA's Cullman Research Building, Exchange Cafe features dairy from activist organizers Milk Not Jails, tea from anarchist network Feral Trade Courier, and honey from population control researchers at BeeSpace. An archive of artworks based on reciprocity and exchange, from barter to unconventional encounters, makes legible contemporary practices in art and activism.
