HORIZON – Eyebeam’s final party in Chelsea
Eyebeam will be relocating this summer to a temporary space in Brooklyn’s Industry City while our permanent home in the Brooklyn Cultural District is under construction. But before packing up our legendary West Chelsea warehouse and heading off to new horizons, we’ll be throwing one final blowout on Thursday, June 5, 7-10pm, featuring visual art and music performances by a selection of Eyebeam alumni artists and some of NYC’s finest electronic music purveyors.
HORIZON will alter audience’s visual perceptions through striking illusions created using video and light projections. Experience an immersive environment in which a dense cloud of fog covers the ceiling of Eyebeam’s massive exhibition space, providing an ephemeral surface for light and visuals designed by renowned video artist, VJ, and Eyebeam alum Benton C Bainbridge and Sofy Yuditskaya. Portland visual and performance art duo MSHR, current residents at Eyebeam, will create an island-like stage with mirrored and colored plexiglass light sculptures that react to audio feedback from the music performances. Eyebeam alumni LoVid provides a glitched-out mixed media installation with visceral compositions of video, audio, and discarded electronic devices using raw electrical signals.
The visual environment provides a unique setting for a diverse roster of music performances and DJ sets that fill out the night. House, electro, and hip-hop by Michael Magnan, Slava, Mrs. UNO, La’Fem Ladosha, and Internet Powerlifting Federation mix together with more experimental sounds from MSHR and Extreme Animals. Send Eyebeam off the island properly with an audiovisual extravaganza to remember.
