External Affairs Manager

Eyebeam is seeking a results-oriented External Affairs specialist for a newly-created position. The External Affairs manager will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director with institutional and programmatic marketing, audience cultivation, and soliciting major gifts and sponsorship.

The successful candidate will be a creative individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, who is passionate about the nexus of contemporary art, new media and technology worlds. You will assume a key role in strategically positioning Eyebeam as the leading not for profit art and technology center in the United States.  

The External Affairs manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with program staff and consultants to achieve objectives in a way that is as diverse and idiosyncratic as Eyebeam’s programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure articulation and consistent communication of Eyebeam “brand”
  • Keep content on our website dynamic but with consistent style and messaging
  • Plan, execute and manage ongoing social media presence and campaigns
  • Coordinate and manage project promotion, marketing and press materials distribution (including print materials, press releases, bi-weekly e-blasts)
  • Oversee all external communications mailing lists (press, donor, prospect, etc.)
  • Special Event Planning and production, including regular cultivation events, and special events
  • Identify, research and solicit external constituents: individuals, corporations
  • Manage semi-annual direct mail appeals and micro campaigns
  • Work with the Executive Director and the board to identify and solicit major gifts
  • Assist with management of institutional, foundation, and government relationships

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success cultivating individual, creative industry, or corporate sponsorships
  • Innovative approaches to developing industry partnerships
  • Demonstrated success fundraising or capital building for non-profit organizations or technology/media companies
  • Demonstrated success with marketing and messaging campaigns using social media and Web 2.0 tools, as well as traditional media platforms
  • Appropriate industry connections and well-honed networking skills
  • Ability to speak the language of contemporary art, new media, and/or creative technology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly motivated, creative, flexible and innovative thinker
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills, highly organized
