The Vertical Bed
The Vertical Bed is a device that allows its user to sleep in a standing position. The device supports the sleeper's weight by bolting into metal grating on the ground, and folds up to fit in a briefcase when not in use. It has been tested on the streets of New York, for 40 minutes naps at 4 hour intervals, without failure or interference by passersby. Made with the support of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Swing Space, and Eyebeam.
