
Pelayo uses funny musical notation where colours represent notes.
Our friend Pelayo is staying with us. Pelayo is from the electronic music conservatory in Bassel, Switzerland. He once played a show with the Golden Palominos. Kudos! As a kid, Pelayo used to play me and my brother the melodies to Peter the Wolf, while he read the story to us, all on his bass clarinet. As an adult, he forms part of (the now disbanded) FMOL trio, which used FMOL, a piece of software they made in '98 for real-time musical collaboration over TCP. The FMOL mission statement was thus:
Pelayo uses colour-based scores when he plays stuff like his alto sax. He writes stuff for orchestras. Here are some of his scores:



That last one is a coltrane tune. Can you guess what it is yet?
He says he wasn't schooled in music from a young age so he didn't take kindly to trad scoring. This is his own little system.
