Eyebeam opens its doors so that all lovers of creative technology to come and learn about our talented residents’ creative processes. Residents will be presenting works in progress, sketches and ideas in their early stages, and visitors are encouraged to linger, converse and explore.
The Open Studio is a powerful way to prepare and think through the Open Call for 2017-2018, which will go online soon.
This event will feature two roundtables with residents, where all visitors will be welcome to join as discussants on two pressing topics facing the American political landscape.
3:00PM
Roundtable: The Technology We Have
How has technology been used as an instrument of power, and allowed for oppression to continue or worsen unchecked?
4:30PM
Roundtable: The Technology We Need
What are the utopian strategies of mediation, invention and communication can artists use to reimagine technology? How could artists help to take power by creating these technologies?
