Playable Fashion Afterschool Program (for ages 14-18)
Hours: Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 4-6pm
We’re happy to introduce a FREE cutting edge afterschool program “Playable Fashion” at Eyebeam Art & Technology Center that combines Fashion, Technology and Game Design this Spring 2013 semester. This program will be taught by fashion designer turned game designer Kaho Abe, who has worked at labels like Tommy Hilfiger and Gymboree, and games artist and educator Sarah Schoemann.
The program will meet every Tuesday & Wednesday 4-6pm, from February 12th to May 22nd, at Eyebeam Art & Technology Center (540 W 21st Street, between 10th & 11th Aves in Chelsea). Participants will learn:
- Fashion: How to design, fabricate/sew your own wearable game controller.
- Technology: How to build your own circuits and soft switches/sensors.
- Game Design: The digital tools, concepts and methodologies needed to design a good video game for your wearable controller.
Students are showcasing their final projects at Hive NYC’s Emoti-Con! youth challenge and showcase on June 1.
