Youth Drop-In Program: June 2010

June: DIY Multi-User Network Mania with Eyebeam collaborator Dan Walmsley, and Gabriella Coleman
Were there online social networks before the web? How did gamers create huge multi-player worlds before the age of 3D graphics? Software developer Dan Walmsley and geek culture anthropologist Gabriella Coleman will explore online cultures and social networks through the groundbreaking programs of the modern Internet. Students will learn about the fascinating world of Multi-User Dungeons, IRC, Usenet and the cultures that formed around them, some of which still thrive today.
